Leading Through Trust: Confident Management from the Inside Out
Great management isn't just about knowing what to do. It's about having the confidence to do it, and understanding the person you need to be to lead well.
Leading Through Trust is a practical, interactive leadership development programme for managers who want to build trust, develop their people and feel more confident in how they lead.
We'll explore both the skills of management and the self-awareness, confidence and personal effectiveness that help those skills translate into everyday behaviour.
Whether you're developing yourself as a manager or investing in the people who lead your teams, this programme creates space to reflect, challenge assumptions, practise new approaches and work on the real situations you're facing.
Management is about more than managing tasks
You might have been promoted because you were good at your job. But leading people brings a different set of challenges.
Having difficult conversations. Giving feedback that helps rather than knocks confidence. Delegating without taking everything back. Motivating people who are different from you. Making decisions when you don't have all the answers.
And finding the balance between supporting your team, holding people accountable and looking after yourself.
Knowing what good management looks like doesn't always mean it's easy to put into practice.
Sometimes the challenge is developing the skills. Sometimes it's trusting yourself enough to use them. Often, it's a bit of both.
Leading Through Trust brings these things together, helping managers develop practical skills while building the self-awareness and confidence to use them.
What we’ll explore
The programme brings together four connected areas of management development.
Communicating with Impact
Build stronger working relationships through clearer, more confident communication.
Navigate difficult conversations constructively.
Give feedback that builds trust and supports development.
Understand different communication styles and how our assumptions influence interactions.
Express your needs and expectations clearly as a manager.
Motivating and Developing People
Create the conditions for people to take ownership, contribute and grow.
Understand what motivates different people.
Develop your coaching skills and learn when to coach, guide or direct.
Delegate effectively and build accountability.
Recognise contributions, navigate conflict and create an environment where people can speak honestly and challenge constructively.
Developing Your Manager Identity
Explore who you are as a manager, what matters to you and how you want to lead.
Understand your personal values and how they influence your leadership.
Explore your leadership and management style.
Recognise habits and patterns that help or hinder you.
Build confidence, navigate imposter feelings and bridge the gap between the manager you are and the manager you want to be.
Personal Leadership
Develop the personal effectiveness needed to lead sustainably, not just get through the day.
Manage your energy, resilience and wellbeing.
Prioritise effectively and make decisions with greater confidence.
Recognise procrastination and move from thinking into action.
Set boundaries and develop ways of working that support you and your team.
The emphasis throughout is on applying ideas to your own experiences, rather than simply learning models and moving on.
How we’ll work together
This isn't a one-size-fits-all training course or a series of presentations to sit through.
My approach is practical, interactive and reflective. We'll use structured tools, discussion, activities and real-world scenarios to explore the challenges managers face and identify what might help.
There is space to be honest about what feels difficult, alongside the challenge to question assumptions, try different approaches and take responsibility for what happens next.
You'll have opportunities to learn from other people's experiences, practise skills and decide what you want to do differently.
The aim isn't just to leave with new ideas. It's to leave with greater clarity, practical next steps and the confidence to put them into action.
Who is it for?
Leading Through Trust is suitable for:
New and aspiring managers navigating the transition from doing the work themselves to leading others.
Experienced managers who want to refresh their approach, tackle persistent challenges or develop greater confidence.
Organisations investing in their managers and looking for practical development that supports stronger day-to-day leadership behaviours.
You don't need to have all the answers or be struggling in your role. You just need to be willing to reflect, learn and consider doing some things differently.
Why work with me?
I'm Chloe Angus, a leadership coach, trainer and facilitator. Before setting up VIA Courses, I spent 15 years at a global manufacturing corporate, including 13 years in management and leadership roles.
I've experienced the realities of leading people in a busy, operational business; the decisions, the conversations, the competing priorities and the fact that being good at your job doesn't automatically make managing people easy.
My work brings together that practical leadership experience with professional coaching, team development and facilitation.
I create spaces where people can be honest about the challenges they're facing, explore different perspectives and feel supported to make changes while also being challenged to take action.
I believe workplaces are better when they're human. That means taking people seriously, building trust and recognising that how we lead matters just as much as what we achieve.
What does it cost?
The 2 day programme is priced at £425 per delegate to include workbooks, resources, and accountability buddy system.
I am passionate about finding ways to make development like this accessible including:
Helping you access funding locally including SkillsBank through SYMCA and Opportunity / Pathways to Work within local government
I offer at least 1 place as a “gift in kind” complimentary seat at all of my public access courses. I want to ensure that accessing training to be a great leader does not depend on your background, your organisation or your identity. These places are generally offered to local charities, if you are interested in a complimentary place or would like to nominate someone you believe would benefit please email me at chloe@viacourses.co.uk
